2016 is a very special year for the Lake Mohawk German Christmas Market:
We are proudly celebrating our 15th year of this magical market and we are very pleased to announce a special guest from Germany coming to join our festivities.
We are excited to announce that Brett McLain, of Freehand Custom Carvings, has invited Florian Lindner of Germany to join him. Brett has been sculpting wood for over 20 years, and is a welcome face to Market goers at the main Boardwalk entrance to our Market.
Brett’s honored guest is Florian,  a world champion speed carver who has been awarded numerous prizes at various competitions throughout the world and recognized amongst the wood carving world as being one of Germany’s finest.
Both Florian and Brett will be at the Lake Mohawk German Christmas Market throughout the entire weekend and will be doing live carvings to entertain and demonstrate to our expected record attendance.
Fifteen years is truly a landmark year for the Market as the total length of the beautiful Boardwalk has been totally sold out to vendors for the first time. In total we are welcoming over 110 vendors that are located throughout the Country Club property as well as in the Sparta Elks building.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Because record attendance is anticipated please be sure to use the Park & Ride service, (see Directions page).
Wood carving by Brett McLain and Flirian Lindner will take place on:

Saturday 1pm & 3pm

Sunday 12noon & 2pm

It’s easy to see why the Lake Mohawk German Christmas Market in Sparta, NJ continues to be ranked as “One of the Top Ten Things to Do in December in the State” – it’s simply at the top of the “to do” list for festive shoppers. This magical German Christmas Market beckons to all, with beautifully crafted and unique gifts from vendors near and afar. With the perfect backdrop of beautiful Lake Mohawk…why go anywhere else? The authentic wooden huts generously created by a local artisan, John Kweselait of Custom Wood Furniture, have simply enhanced the enchanting festive atmosphere. In the 15 years since its humble beginning of raising funds for local charities and organizations, it is now truly recognized as New Jersey’s largest Christmas Market, attracting over 18,000 to Lake Mohawk during the weekend. The German Christmas Market also continues to enjoy a special visitor – St. Nicholas, himself, and features a fun activity for children  – a pony ride and petting zoo – located at the main entrance of the Lake Mohawk Country Club in the circle drive below Boardwalk level.

Two Park & Ride locations are provided allowing for a stress free visit. To enjoy the festivities (and to avoid possible parking tickets imposed by the police being very vigilant of local parking restrictions), many folks choose to use Park & Ride to ensure they arrive at the Market stress free. (Parking is difficult near the Christmas Market itself as parking space are extremely limited). Park & Ride is available from 2 locations in Sparta and drops off directly in White Deer Plaza. For more details see Directions. Accessible Parking is also available – see page for Directions.

Since 2001, the total donations back to the community have exceeded $190,000.

The charities and organizations being recognized from the money raised from the 2016 German Christmas Market will take place in the Spring of 2017…..watch out for details!
